Pharmacy First – Get Help Directly From Your Local Pharmacy

Did you know you can now get treatment for common conditions directly from your pharmacy without needing a GP appointment?

What is Pharmacy First?

Pharmacy First is a new NHS service that lets you speak to a trained pharmacist about certain conditions. They can provide advice, treatment, even prescriptions if needed. It includes the supply of appropriate medicines for 7 common conditions including earache, sore throat, and urinary tract infections, aiming to address health issues before they get worse. If your symptoms need further attention, they’ll refer you to a GP or another service.

See below the services and medications that can be supplied for the 7 clinical conditions:

Patients will be able to access the 7 clinical pathways element via referrals from referring organisations including general practice, urgent and emergency care settings, and NHS 111 (online and via telephone). In addition, for the 7 common conditions clinical pathway consultations only, patients can access the service by attending or contacting the pharmacy directly without the need for referral.
