If you need a blood test, you will be given a printed request form and asked to attend St Mark’s Hospital. Please note that we do not routinely do blood tests here at the surgery, but there are some exceptions:
- DMARDS monitoring
- Patients on chemotherapy
- Frail elderly
- Emergency bloods requested by the GP
Blood test results are generally available 2 working days after you have had them done. Please visit our Test Results triage to request your test results.
Please telephone after 14:00, as the GPs need to review and comment on them.
Other test results are available as follow:
- Urine sample – 2 days
- Stool sample – 7 days
- Smears – 10-14 days
- 24 hour urine – 2 weeks
- X-rays – 2 weeks
- Specialist Bloods – up to 2 weeks
- Toenails – 2-3 weeks
- Toenail part 2 – 4 weeks
Please always ring after 14:00 for any test result, as the GPs need to review the results that come down electronically, and comment on them.
Please note that there will be occasions when the results are not available within the above general timeframes, and this will be outside of our control.
